Many years ago, the lands of what is now North America were not governed by mankind, but it were ruled by a far greater power. Wolf. The lands were divided to two major territories of wolf. The Shire Wolves and the Deletire Wolves were great enemies. Another small territory was claimed by outcast wolves that had broken apart from the Shire and become a pack of their own. They were known as the Pariah. Now, there were a few very small villages of man scattered through the land, but they were undisturbed by the majestic beasts.... They were no part of the war....
A long and bloody fight commenced in a few hours and lasted for what seemed like forever. No one knows why it started; since the alphas had a peace treaty established that seemed to keep everything calm. But most assume it was a border breech by one wolf.
The Shire and the Deletire both had strengths and weaknesses, but finally the alpha, Neervona, of the Shire Wolves had fallen. For moments, everything stood still.
"The alpha has fallen!” one Shire cried. "We must fall back!" The Shire Wolves began running back into the trees. "No you cowards!" Tormi, the beta, shouted, “We will fight and win this war. Fight for the honor of Neervona!" to prove him wrong, he was attacked by three of the Deletire.
-----------------------------------------------------------
"How many have we lost, Machason?" The Chimala walked with a skilled war expert.
"We've lost about 58% of our forces, malady, including the loss of Beta Tormi,” Machason stared at the dirt as he strode with his alphess. "And-- as you've heard already-
"Do not pity me. Many more have suffered the loss of their mate." Chimala lightly scolded him.
"My apologies malady. But what are we to do will only one alpha, less then have of our warriors, and no beta to lead us into the fight? Our territory continues to the lost with each day gone by. It will not be long until the Deletire Wolves launch a final strike and we will be overcome! Malady, if I may continue to be frank,” he continued “We may have to consider surrender a real possibility and-"
"We will fight for what if ours" Machason was interrupted by Tormi's mate, Bornika. Chimala sighed. "I was hoping to never come to this.... Machason, send Tev and Natnaa out four days beyond our southern border. We must call upon the Pariah."
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Tev and Natnaa jogged across the land, entering the Pariah territory. Natnaa was ahead of Tev, more aware of where they were. "Keep then ears up, pup. We're in the Pariah territory now.” He looked back at the gray stumbling wolf.
"Finally!” He panted. “I need to sit and rest for a while." Tev sat.
"Om your feet, Tev! We need to get this task done quickly. I don't like this place." Natnaa pushed Tev on his feet and continued on their path.
"Oh hush-hush! You've been tense this whole time!" Tev whimpered.
"For a good reason too! The Pariah aren't on the very best of terms with Neervona. And Chimala is risking both of our lives sending us out here!" Natnaa shot back. "Now come!"
Tev followed him, shaking his head. "If they get aggressive, we'll just out run them-"
"We can't out anything them! The Pariah are huge! Long legs, powerful jaws! They could take down a mammoth in a snap of your jaw!"
"Hahahaha, that’s myth you gray nose. It's completely inpmo-"
"I've seen it done, Tev. You weren't born when they were still apart of the pack. They were apart of the Elite troops. Natnaa's rule was: They had to be accepted into a human camp and serve them and a lowly dog, hunting and protecting them. Once they killed a mammoth, they were part of the Elite. I witnessed it. It's no myth."
"Ha.. Well, if these wolves are so good. Why don't the show themselves?" Tev chuckled.
But the truth was, the heads of the Pariah, Droolhate and Gravebone, were stealthily walking behind them. They sped in front of them stopping the to Shire wolves. "They're spies" Gravebone growled. "No!" Natnaa shrieked as he was pushed over by her. "Oh yeah? Then what are you? Neervona and Chimala know that your kind is never to set foot in our land." Droolhate growled at the same speed of her words. "Chimala sends us for aid. We need you to help us win the war against the Deletire!" Natnaa gasped, Gravebone now sitting upon him. "And Neervona is dead" Tev almost whimpered under Droolhate. "As is our beta. The Deletire wolves push farther into our lands and we cannot hold them off. We desperately need the help of the Pariah."
Droolhate angrily turned and began to walk off. "Sister, release him."
"No, Droolhate. They trespassed. We should end their lives." Gravebone continued to sit on Natnaa.
"Grave-- Let him go!" Droolhate turned back. Gravebone humpf-ed and stood, letting Natnaa roll to stand. "So will you help us defeat the Deletire?" He asked Droolhate.
"No” she said coldly. "Shire is on its own."
"How can you turn your back on us?!" Natnaa shouted running after her. "We cannot go back without you! You must-"
"I must nothing!" Droolhate snarled in his face. "You are old enough to know what Neervona did; what your entire pack has done! Our names have been compared to dirt. The Shire has sealed its own fate."
"What about me?" Tev asked, approaching the angered Parian leader. “And the siblings of my generation? Our lives have only been for a year. We took no part in the decision placed upon your kind. We only know stories of Droolhate....... Droolhate the Murderess."
Droolhate's eyes widened in further anger. She pushed Tev into the dirt and kept a paw on him. "I am no murderer! You and 'your generation' know only lies!" She glared at him. Gravebone sat on Natnaa once more. "I'll tell you the real injustice done years ago. So listen closely, pup. Listen very closely. And learn the truth." Droolhate pushed on Tev's chest and looked at the setting sun. Stars were appearing in the somewhat cloudy sky. "Get comfortable." She sat down.
-------Droolhate's Story------
When I was only three winters of age, we defeated the Deletire Wolves who'd been crossing our land and stealing our prey all year. Souls and spirits were in high moods and only a day later, the pack celebrated the victory. I was left on care, watching the pups for the day.
"Yahoo!!" Seatide howled. "They celebration has begun! Droolhate, Snare, Netlock you've been summoned to join the feast!"
"Great! I'm starved," Snare chuckled, following Seatide back to the celebration. "Droolhate, going to join us?"
"No, I must take care of Keniin." She shook her head with a smile on her face, looking into a den behind her where a small pup lay sleeping.
"We'll bring back something for you," Netlock chirped running off the Snare and Seatide. They soon disappeared and Droolhate was left alone with Keniin.
"Droolhate! I knew you'd stay!" A gruff young voice chuckled as he came into appearance. "You take care of my new sibling as if he were your own. Bravo"
"It is my duty to care for the alpha's pups. Just as I cared for you, Eburak." Droolhate smiled and bowed slightly to the alpha's son.
"You impress me," Eburak nodded."..... Just as you impress my parents. They speak very high of you Droolhate."
"Oh really?"
"Yes really. In fact they whisper that before their time comes, they'll entrust leadership of Shire to you!"
"They're discussing subjects of that so soon?"
"Amazing isn't it? And what's even more amazing is they would choose a member of the elite to be the next alpha, instead of their own son. A low elite member as the alpha of the greatest pack to ever come to existence. Truly awe inspiring!.... "Eburak pretended to be appreciative and impressed, but then his voice completely changed.".... And moronic! You elite members have always been warriors and den guarders. Nothing more! The shire wolves bred you larger and fiercer to serve for your current purpose. You were made to serve us. Nothing more. Your bodies may be strong but your brains are not! You cannot lead the Shire! So now, you'll be able to rule the ones who have brought your kind to life? I think not! My parents tell me I do not have the makings of a leader. How idiotic! I am the eldest and the strongest of my litter.” Slowly, others began to appear around them.
"And I have followers. Once I'm alpha, they'll be given positions of great power. They've agreed to terminate you and all other potential leaders that will threaten my place. It will not happen! With you out of the way, mother and father will have no choice but to appoint me as the rightful heir.” He stopped talking and a snarl grew in the throats of the wolves all around Droolhate. "Destroy her." Eburak commanded.
