Their life was peaceful. Their life was serene. The Gummies never did anything the wasn't peaceful and... sweet. They lived their lives, going their simple ways. Some groups of Gummies lived in containers, other pockets, and some others still out in the open.
Our sweet group of colorful gummy bears happens to live on a desk. They were happy on their home. The wide open space and the large screen set there purely for their entertainment. Many things crossed that screen from pictures to videos to text even. This was all they knew, aside form each other and they were happy with it.
Occasionally, Timmy, Judy, or Frank would wander off with curiosities of beyond the desk. They wouldn't return. Everyone figured that Timmy, Judy, or Frank found some other nice place to live, making some sweet new Gummies for friends.
But one day, the twelve Gummies suddenly discovered what really happened to Timmy, Judy, and Frank. The keeper of the giant screen turned his enormous hand on the innocent little bears.
The Gummies held on to each other as the sweetest and only red one was taken. His yellow brother held onto him. He pulled down as hard as he could, trying his best to save his brother from the hand of the keeper of the screen. His efforts were in vain as they were pulled apart. The ten other Gummies watched in horror as they disappeared. Five hugged, two covered their eyes, one watched the hand, and two moved their little legs as fast as they could, trying to save themselves.
It was a massacre! One green little Gummy was left. She watched, traumatized as the keeper of the screen walked away thirty minutes later. Her little gummy heart beat faster than it ever had before. She tried to slow her panicked breathing, grateful, yet sad, that she had not been eaten. As she pulled herself together, she made a strong effort to leave the desk. Her little legs moved fast as she ran to the edge of the desk. She was behind the screen, hoping that for now that this place was a good spot to hide as she flung herself onto her back to rest. Was it like this everywhere?
Ever wonder why the little gummy bears stick together as you pull them out of the bag? Did you just assume it was the heat, or humidity? Now you know why. The innocent Gummies know nothing of their purpose or why we eat them. Take into consideration the Gummies' feelings before you plop them into your mouth in front of their brethren.
