Leaving ths shelter and securing his rain cape around his neck, Alex followed Ricky through the mire of mud where the roads would be in a few days. It wasn't too far to the supply depot, a few lights were on and there was a pair of security guards but that was it. As they got closer it was definatly shut. "Shoot, I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow. I was really hoping to avoid the shower soap...""Not much wrong with the shower soap...its very antibacterial" He said sniffing and giving a slight shudder from the rain. Ricky grinned. "I'm something of a germ freak. Just the thought of all those little organisms... it creeps me out, man. But anyway, I think I'll go shower up while we have time. I'll try to recruit some roomies while I'm at it. I always seem to meet nice people in the showers. Kind of like how you tend to make conversation with people while at the urinal. It just makes things more comfortable as opposed to silently pissing..."Alex just looked at him and shook his head. "Your crazy, can see the next countless years been well fun, talking about all the urinal convos youmust of had" He laughed. "All right, I'll catch you back at the...hut..." he smiled "In time for curfew. I think I'm going to help our good friend in the fields. I'm sure I know who he is"He gave a nod, "Laters dude"<Ricky reply> Alex slodged through the mud past many shelters towards his own. A few people milled about. Some gave a nod, others said hello. Turning past the group of 8 berth shelters he crossed over the farming land that had been designated on the maps. He climbed over a tarp covered supply crated and sat there on top of it, vaguely aware of how wet his arse was becoming. "Brother!" He shoutedat the figure labouring away "How can I help?"<Whitey reply> (I'm not going to tell you what a Whitey is in the UK Yuri...just..yeah.. )

"Okay, see you in a few hours then," Ricky said over his shoulder as he headed toward the showering station. There weren't many people there. The lines were all fairly short. He waited for about five minutes, community towel in hand, until there was room for him.
The showers had low walls covered in tile but that was about all the privacy one got. Ricky sighed with relief to see that no women were showering at the time. For some reason the council refused to make seperate showering stations for males and females. They said that no one should have anything to hide... though he noticed many people tended to go in the stations with the most of their gender in them.
When Ricky exited the steamy room the rain had picked up again a little. He had taken a very warm shower so it felt even colder outside now. It was only two hours from curfew and the sun had already gone down over flat landscape.
He headed back for his shelter.

Nordia's eyes were alert as she bore through the meeting. Her hands wrung themselves subconsciously as she kept focused. Twenty three divided by two is 11.5. Eleven point five times four is 46. Forty-six divided by three is... her mind went, betraying her alert exterior. In truth, it was a study method. She'd bore herself if she concentrated on one subject. When she read, she had one book open and someone talking to her as she read. After she got in too deep with the number game, she let her mind wander to the planet they were on. So odd... I enjoy the changes, but that could prove to our disadvantage if we ever were attacked by someone more experienced in this climate... Maybe we should spend more time concentrating on that than anything. Yes, we have to build, but we can't expect to survive without some form of defense... In the area of knowledge of the planet, Nordia had no idea what it was like other than what she had seen. She was cautious by nature, always a quiet child. She thought defense was never wasted.
When the young woman moved on to proper grammar, the meeting had ended. She ran a hand through her hair out of a nervous habit as she meandered towards the exit. She wasn't in a hurry. When she reached the outside it was raining, which she merely noted before going on. She was going to have to get used to it, so why bother fussing now? "A roommate would be nice... But, rarely do people approach me... could it be that I talk to myself? No, it couldn't be that at all..." she muttered, arms crossed in thought. As of then, she had relatively little to do, unless someone asked her to help. She looked up to the sky after the rain stopped. "Beauty is found in the oddest of places..." she said, her dreamy voice trailing off as it usually did. She enjoyed the overcast, as it wasn't as harsh as light. It had a dreary look to it, but it was a livable one that Nordia found calming. Her thoughts drifted to that as she started slowly off, head tilted up to look at the sky.

"Brother!" A voice pierced Riso's mind, too close to be anywhere but in the field itself "How can I help?"
Riso looked up suddenly, halfway between where the last marker post was, and where the next would be, eyes falling on the figure perched on the supply crates, He blanched, if that was possible for someone that pale, and stood casually "While I'm sure I do certainly hold the air of someone who tells his lessers what is what" he called back "I am certain you need not me to tell you what needs to be done here" he gestured toward what would be the field though his tone was obviously in jest, he was known for his jokingly condescending yet friendly explanations
<Alex>
"I" he began "my good friend, am working, while the rest of the community has seen fit to take the day off, I am physically unable to stomach such insipid time wastage" that was a bit of a lie, he could be tremendously lazy and in truth, he did have to be putting his stuff in his Shelter today, but he couldn't bring himself to leave the field and risk being approached, though it seemed it was too late for that

OOC: I dont know, I took "Whitey" from the moofie "Me, Myself and Irene"

"While I'm sure I do certainly hold the air of someone who tells his lessers what is what" he called back "I am certain you need not me to tell you what needs to be done here" he gestured toward what would be the field and Alex watched to where he pointed.
Alex dropped off the crate and walked over.
"Fair enough, ha thought I reckognised you, your the chief weapons scientist...So what you doing out here?" He looked around at the patch of red muddy ground.
"I" he began "my good friend, am working, while the rest of the community has seen fit to take the day off, I am physically unable to stomach such insipid time wastage"
"Yeah I can see that" He smiled "Yeah am sure your not, after that pirate incident I saw you many a time on the observation deck kicking back" He gave a cheeky smile "Right well I guess I'll start digging out the irrigation paths you've marked out"
<Whitey reply>
"Yeah why not? Not exactly like theres anything else to do really" Alex turned and splodged through mud deliberatly over to where the crates were.
OOC: Oh okies

"Yeah am sure your not, after that pirate incident I saw you many a time on the observation deck kicking back. Right well I guess I'll start digging out the irrigation paths you've marked out" The other said, Riso shrugged pointedly "well that's just the thing, on the colony ships, there was nothing to do, it was suffocating, in a sense, now we're here, here for life, and theres things to be done" he said, almost zealously as he moved on to drive the stake into the ground with unneeded flourish "but are you sure you wish to work? I'm certain there are more productive things to do, I'm out here now because its raining"
"Yeah why not? Not exactly like theres anything else to do really" Alex said, Riso could certainly disagree "ah, surely you jest, sir, there is too much to do!" he gesticulated wildly, as he always did "but i understand your meaning" he noted afterward, more demurely, as he continued to enjoy the rain and work until he had to go back, hopefully to a domicile occupied only by him

"I'm glad you do" Alex said flatly as he began pulling off the tarp from one of the equipment casings.
Looking at the outside he could gather what the contents were. Mainly digging tools. The irrigation ditches could be dug by digger, but the vehicles were still compounded on the colony ships save for the military vehicles out on patrols. Placing his parm agains the lock, it flashed green and opened. He gave it some motivatin and pushed it. Pulling off some plastic sheeting he grabbed a spade and closed the lid. Sloding through the mud he took off his rain cape and his shirt and wrapped it up in the rain cape. He liked to work in his black tank top.
He found no matter how wet or cold the weather he could work up a sweat. Watching the scientist going about his buisness with a sort of fury, Alex walked voer tothe first marker and pushed the spade into the went red earth.

Ricky was meandering along in the general direction of his shelter when he saw an old friend, staring at the sky and muttering as she often did.
"Nordia!" he called, waving an arm. She wasn't too far off, but across a very wide and deep puddle.
<Nordia Reply>
He didn't know her well, but she was quite the character. He wasn't too sure what her job was, she seemed to end up stuck with all the crappy jobs on the colony ship. It made him wonder if she was just a useless meat stick in the eyes of the council. He wouldn't be surprised if she had snuck aboard the ship, or was somehow related to one of the councilmembers.

Nordia's head snapped from it's focus on the sky to the man calling her name. She turned her body to follow her unnatural angle of her skull and neck. Her eyes brightened and widened when she saw someone she knew. She waved back in a full, frantic motion. It looked as if she thought she was in a crowd of people denser than three people per foot, and he would lose sight of her. "Ricky!" she nearly yelled, keeping her ground.
Nordia's opinion of Ricky was, oddly enough, rather understandable and not very twisted. He was quiet, and he didn't tell her that she was weird to her face that she could remember, so she didn't have too many memories that stuck out with him. He was still civil to her, so she was civil back. The emerald eyed oddball grinned to him with goofy blissfulness. Nothing bothered her, it seemed.

Ricky always felt a little strange being around Nordia. He was all for accepting people of all kinds, but she was indeed the strangest person he had ever met. She acted as if they were the best friends in the world, though he hardly knew her. He often wondered about her mental stability.
"So, you found a roommate yet?" He wasn't exactly looking for one in her, but he would consider her an option if Alex and he couldn't find anyone else.
<Nordia Reply foo>
There were hundreds of people to choose from. It was just a matter of finding someone. Ricky glanced at his datapad. Most of the shelters were already taken, but few were full. He saw many people wandering around. It was strange how they reacted now that they were thrust into this new situation. So many people wanted to be with their select few friends, or alone. The council had ranted countless times on how things wouldn't always be easy on the new planet, yet people were sticking to their habits from Earth.
These people were the sole survivors of Earth, their lives were completely changed forever, yet they still cared about such trivial things. It made him wonder how long it would be until fashion was reborn in the Haven.
Along the same line of thinking, he wondered how long it would be until companies were formed, religions were built, social groups were defined. One hundred years? Fifty years? Ten? It was almost like seeing Earth start all over again.

Riso's datapad beeped at him as he drove another steak into the ground, well int the eastern side of the field now, he took it out and looked at it, it was fifteen minutes till Curfew, so it was time to go and see how his Shelter was going, and whether he had managed to keep the unwashed hordes away by being no-where to be found, he certainly hoped so. he returned the two stakes he'd yet to use from this armful along with the rope to the stockpile in the middle of the field and waved an animated goodbye to the security officer who had been digging for the past hour, before he set off.
Reaching his domicile, he took a deep breath and accessed the occupancy log, he remained the only one on it, and surely no-one had not picked a home yet, he suppressed a whoop of success and merely raised his brow, before proceeding inside, it was huge for just one person, as it was meant for at least four, and he was already mentally assigning his various work spaces, yes, this would make a fine office and home indeed, and it would only get better as he improved upon it, after all, citizens were expected to raise their own quality of living, he looked around, and made a checklist of what he had to do on his datapad. Obtain and fit sufficiently secure floor coverings, since this would be an office aswell, it had to be relatively sealed, and having an open floor was just unacceptable for a scientific workplace. He had to get new, more secure entrances fitted, couldn't have people stealing from him, since he worked chiefly on weaponry, both personal and large. And finally, he'd need to get some furniture, luckily, he had an office aboard the Colony ship, one where he could get all the furniture he wanted from

Alex watched the Scientist leave and throw a wave. Alex returned the wave wondering why he had ignored him for the past hour. Turning around and covered in sweat and rain he noticed it ahd started getting dark. He checked his work. The irrigation ditches aroudn the first ploy had been done.
He walked over the container, opned it and put the spade back in and withdrew his rain cape and tank top.
Getting dressed he closed the container and made his way back to the shelter. It registered his hand after the second reading, his muddy hands been somewhat of a hinderance.
Placing his raincape over the inbuilt radiator he removed his boots and placed them on a grill by the door. Before removing his blacktrousers and folding them up neetly by his bag. He lay down on the half blownup mattress and staired up at the ceiling.

((Life got hectic.))
Nordia smiled to Ricky, showing most of her teeth in the process. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "Not yet." She shrugged, moving her palms to shoulder level and faced them up. "I'm not very worried. I'll find someone, even if I may not get along with them. I won't stay there very often. I hate feeling useless, so I'll always be doing something. How is your housing situation?" Her voice was high, but not squeaky. The way she spoke was a lazy, slow drawl that would have sounded like someone who was stoned if she didn't have the up inflection at the end of it.
In truth, Nordia felt useless. She was given the jobs no one else would do, but at least she was kept busy. She was intelligent enough, but she was bad at doing work that required any skill. So, manual labor was what she mainly did. It was fine, she met a lot of people while she fixed something in their quarters and she felt like she did something that had to be done. There was no pride or longing to do it out of need. At least she wasn't a useless meatstick...
((GAAAHHH! But, yes, she is a useless meatbag. She just won't admit it.))

Bella felt like she had been wandering around for ages when she finally saw a girl that she knew talking to a guy she had seen once or twice. That girl would be much better then the guy that had been following her around asking to stay with her. She walked up to her trying to remember her name. The boy had yelled it just a minute ago...She looked back in her head. Forcing herself to remember.
"Hey, Norida." She said when she got to her. The name finally breaking through her mind. Bella ignored the boy as she spoke. "Listen I know we don't really know each other...But I won't really be in my shelter much probably, so I was wondering if you would come be my roommate before some creepy boy decides to." She scowled at the boy in her last statement.
Bella really wanted Norida to come with her. She was nice as far as Bella knew, and she was a girl...which is always good. Boys are annoying and messy most of the time. And being a cook Bella liked having everything organized. Of course this girl might not be very organized....But Bella was pretty sure she would rather have Norida then the boy that had been asking her earlier.

((Nice tense changing there, Elizabeth )) "I met some security guy who offered to share a shelter with me... so it's just me and him. I'm looking for someone else right now," he mentally kicked himself instantly after his last sentence, he didn't want it to seem like he was asking Nordia to be his roommate. Lucky she didn't get a chance to respond before another girl arrived at the scene. She greeted Nordia, completely ignoring Ricky until throwing him a dirty glance along with some unfriendly words. Apparently, she didn't want Ricky to ask her to stay with him. He grinned maliciously. "Hey, Bella, isn't it? Would you and Nordia like to stay with me?" He glanced at Nordia. <Bella/Nordia> He knew she would say no, he simply wanted to be a nuisance. From what he knew, women tend to hate it when you do exactly what they tell you not too. Ricky wasn't too experienced in relationships or the female race at all for that matter, but it made sense.
