Alex had unpacked his things and had organised them neetly on a small shelf near his bed space. His mattress was fully inflated and curfew was about to strike. He wasnt on duty till tomorrow so he walked over to the stove, switched it on and saw the blue rings beging to glow red.
Searching underneath of the stove he found some plastic plates and a number of pans.
He walked back over to his bag and pulled out a four man ration container. He always ate allot and figured his room mate would be back soon. Stiring the block with a metal spoon into the pan he began to cook the recycled meat stuffs and vegetables.
Smoke began to filter through the extractor. It was nearly curfew.

((I barely read it after I posted.))
Bella was very alarmed by this. This guy didn't really want her to stay with him. That was obvious. She was thinking about saying yes, just to see what he would do.
"I already have a shelter, just in case you didn't realize that." She told him. "But I'll cancel it if Norida wants to stay with you...The more people to a shelter the better...Says the counsil." She muttered the last part under her breath. Bella was wondering what Norida would say. It didn't really matter to her if she stayed with boys, now that she realized it. Because she really wouldn't be home that often...
((sorry it's so short, the kitten woke me up at 4 this morning and she wouldn't stop bitting my ear so I'm really tired.))

((Third time I'm writing this. I have no time, so it's short. Stop bitching. Some sentences are really awkward. That's on purpose, so as to give you more of a sense of Nordia's mind.))
Nordia's grin was plastered on her face as she tucked her hair behind her ears. Her brother always told her stories about guys, and how girls disappeared or got hurt when in the same room as them and sleeping. She knew they were fake, but she couldn't help but be leery of men. It was in her nature. Her brother raised her, so she owed much to him. She hung on his every word, even when he was just telling a phony story. With her grin still in place, she nodded to Ricky. "I'll keep my eyes open and ears clean for you, then!" she called in a loud, childish voice.
Nordia turned to Bella and her grin faded to a smirk. "It sounds like a good idea. We won't see each other constantly, so I won't get on your nerves! That's a good thing, I'm told. I don't really understand why... it's so much more fun with conflict! But, I have been told over and over that it's good to have harmony, so I guess it's true. I take up all the jobs people don't want and share general knowledge if what I know, so I'll be busy enough." When the chestnut haired girl talked to the other girl, she had a much more quiet way of speaking, but she also spoke in a much quicker manner. She clasped her hands in front of her to keep herself occupied instead of her hands wandered all over and trying to fiddle with things.

((I enjoy annoying you both))
These girls weren't taking Ricky's taunts. He decided he had had enough of his short lived game and that it was time to return to his shelter.
"Okay, well, it's a few minutes away from curfew, so I'm heading back to my home. I'll talk to you two later," he said casually, his minuscule disappointment somewhat noticeable in his tone.
<Bella and Nordia>
Ricky walked back along the dirt road. The sun was going down and the mud had dried. Though the rain was gone he began to feel the chill of the night as the sun reached a lower point on the horizon. It would be maybe two more hours before it went down, but there was a definite change in temperature since it was high in the sky.
Before pressing his hand against the identification pad, Ricky stole a glance at the sunset. It wasn't anything too brilliant. Orange mostly, few clouds. He was told it was supposed to be amazing just before sundown, better than the polluted skies of Earth had ever had to offer while Ricky was alive.
He walked inside and shut the door behind him. The sunset didn't make the planet.
"Whatcha cookin', Alex?" Ricky said, instantly smelling the sweet aroma as he entered the dirt floored shelter.
<Alex>
"Smells great. I'm starved. I take it you didn't find anyone to join us?" he took a seat on one of the empty supply crates all colonists were given to pack their belongings in if there was an emergency evacuation.
<Alex>
"I met up with two girls who I sorta know. They didn't seem interesting in joining us men."

(("They didn't seem interesting in joining us men." That sounds great.))
Bella didn't say anything to the boy as he left. Instead she turned back to Norida. "Do you need to get anything else?" She wanted to get back to the shelter so that she could sleep, and maybe eat something. If they had anything good in the refridgerators. Most likely not. She wonded how they would be giving people food. Probably in trade for the work that people had to do. She didn't want to have to go through the strange plants living on this planet, and try and figure out if they're ok to eat. Though all that she had seen were close to what had been on earth. But most of them had less water content.
((yeah sorry I'll make it longer if I can....but that's really all I have to say...))

Riso awoke with a start, sweaty despite the oppressive cold, he thought for a moment it was the fact that he had hoarded all the blankets for the intended eight people in the large shelter onto his own bed (which consisted of four thin mattresses, two deep and two across so he effectively had a queen-size, but that wasn't it, it was a different sort of sweat, a cold sweat. All at once, the memory hit him, the dream he'd just experienced striking at his soul with crystal clarity, though he wasn't alive during the fall of earth, he saw it all in his mind then, and felt it, the heat of the blasts and fire, the atmosphere burning from his lungs as his flesh melted, but there was no death, he lived it until nothing but dust remained. He shook himself free of the haunting experience and stood, wearing nothing but thermal pajamas he walked across the large room and turned on the lamps, panting. It was a dream, less than that, the memory of a dream, but it was so disturbing real that he wondered if he was feeling some kind of psychic shock wave from earth's loss, no, that was rubbish, it couldn't possibly be that.
He took a drink of water and shuddered again, his bed looked amazingly unwelcome, right now, so he collapsed on one of the chairs near the rudimentary dinner table and stared at the far wall...

Nordia bit her lip in thought at Bella's question. "Not really. Not for tonight, because it's getting closer to curfew and if I got my things then I'd keep remembering something and then something else and then something else, until it was long past... So, it would be best if we just left to our new place of dwelling, unless you have something to do, then I'll gladly follow and try to help!" Her voice wavered from a low, quick wording to a higher, cheery piping at the end. Part of her wanted to use the word home to describe the 'new place of dwelling', but she scorned that part with a mental finger wag. It wasn't home. It was a place to live. Home was where you felt comfortable, where it all felt right. Where family and friends gathered and laughed and cried and talked and fought. Not a cold building with two people who barely knew each other happened to sleep and eat in. That wasn't home. Or was it? Could it be?
Nordia shook her head visibly. Of course it couldn't. This was not Earth... it could never be home... Not now, not ever. Not to Nordia. Her face lapped into one of pensive, almost brooding thought. Her lip was bit to the point of almost bleeding, and her emerald eye shimmered in thought. She felt a wind and she was pulled back into reality. She smiled broadly and giggled, "Where to, Bella?"

Ricky woke with a start the next morning to the sudden sound of his alarm. It was louder, more obnoxious than the one from his room on the colony ship, which he had donated for parts in exchange for a couple of credits. Afterall, the shelters came with built-in clocks, he didn't have need for his own.
The young man realized there was no need for waking up at 8:00 am, for the council had not assigned anyone anything to do this day, but he wanted to be able to sleep that night. He tended to sleep in until noon without an alarm.
He had decided earlier that he would begin his work on the archive later that night. Before that, he planned on searching around for people he knew, maybe seeing if he could get someone to transfer to the shelter he shared with this Alex fellow.
With a groan, Ricky got up.

Bella lead Norida back to the shelter she had chosen. She noticed that it was in the direction that Ricky had gone, but she didn't see him on the way, which she was happy about. She didn't need to be worried about weirdo boys when she wanted to sleep. Once in, she showed Norida her room, said there were some apple type fruits in the fridge if she was hungry, and then announced that she was going to bed. With that she went to her own room.
It took Bella quite a while to actually get to sleep. It smelled strange in the small room, and she didn't like it. It also got cold after awhile, and she added blankets to the few on her back until she was quite hot. Her thoughts were buzzing of what would happen tomorrow, and if the human race would be able to survive on this planet.
When she woke in the morning she was amazed she hadn't had any nightmares. She changed her clothes, and then walked out of her little room. She yawned streching out in the hallway, and then glancing at the clock in the little kitchen. It read 8:03. She was suprised that she had slept in so long. She walked out of the house, not feeling hungry at all, though she hadn't eaten since lunch yesterday.
She sat outside, in the rough cold dirt, happy that it was dry. It seemed like a very dry day, how depressing. She could see some activity going on in houses close to her, but they would usually stop after awhile.
